All Done !
Another year come and gone already!

We have been doing this for nine years now. How time flies.
A millions thank you to all of you who donated $$ to our cause.
Your help makes it all worth while.
We won a few extra awards last evening (like we needed more. – yes always need more!)
1) Kenzie Cup – awarded to the top three placing vehicles by a single car manufacturer. This year MINI won placing 1st and 2nd  – Hey that is our team !
2) Jerry Churchill Cup – Awarded to the top 3 placing cars in any one team. Since we had 2 firsts and a second it went to our team  3) Trophy time silver plates – Awarded to each car finishing the race with less than a specified minimum number of penalty points for the week. All four Hume surviving entries cars earned that plate. And only about half of all competitors earn this much coveted prize.
4) MINI Canada’s MINI Challenge in place. Any MINI finishing in first place in any Targa race class,  is awarded a $3,000 cash prize – Gee I guess that was my car! Thanks MINI !

Gathering together and organizing six cars and  21 people to race this event was a daunting task. The logistics are mind boggling. Try herding cats – about the same in this case I would say. But  I enjoyed the challenge of managing such a large team and learned a few things along the way. Everyone on the team were and remain truly professional and we functioned well together as a team.

We did have one arena cancel our nightly car storage and repair with no notice. And so had to rent a tent and place in the parking lot of our hotel in Bay Roberts for two nights. That was totally bizarre and unexpected to be sure. And except for the two wrecks,  everything went off very well for Team Hume in the end.
We have made no plans for next year as of yet. Other than we are selling one of our cars,  the Silver 2002 M3.
We will sit and think on future rallying until  X-mas this year.

Although, there is this three day rally in Mexico next April that looks very interesting….hmmmm.

Thanks again any and all readers for taking the time to log on and read my blogs.
Cheers,
John Hume

Saturday September 16th.

And it is over…
We raised over $27,000 for MS and the Red Door Shelter. – Which is great!
Despite losing our 2000 BMW 323 ci to a Guardrail Tuesday and our 2006 MINI GP to a concrete wall face also Tuesday – the remaining 4 cars all had a terrific week of racing.
There were more than the usual number of cancelled races due to weather, town politics and personal medical emergencies, but we managed to run 26 races for Targa cars and 28 races for GT. Plus 4 practice races for all so 30 + 32 races respectively.
John Jr and Justin Crant in the Blue 2004 M3 finished 1st in Modern with 3:00 minutes in penalties then Jon Riddell and Briar de Lange placed 3rd in the Silver 2002 M3 with 4:55 in penalties. But wait there is more. Me and Christina Kroner in my precious 2013 MINI GP finished 1st in GT with only 22 seconds in penalties, followed by Craig MacMullen and David Jenkins in his 2013 MINI Countryman JCW with a mere 31 seconds in penalties.
So all 4 cars on the podium !
We wont know winners of any other awards until after the closing Gala tonight.
I which case …….until tomorrow or Monday….all for now.

Hi anyone reading this !
Day 4 is done. Sunny and warm today.
Hume team standings in both divisions remain unchanged.
We did few races today due to community politics, cars crashing and blocking the course and Ambulance for citizens holding up the races….GT managed 4 races and Targa only 3.
John Jr and Justin 1st in Modern by a mere 2 seconds. And John and Christina 1st in GT followed by Craig MacMullen and David Jenkins in 2nd.
Last day tomorrow!
Next Blog will be Monday the 19th….

If anyone is reading….
Day three is done. Nothing spectacular to report. We completed 8 races. The standings remain same as Tuesday. Weather was good today. Just some drizzle at times (as usual). Our 4 remaing vehicles are being kept in great running order by the crew from Centennial College. Things get tighter and more difficult starting tomorrow…Let’s see what Thursday brings…..
All for now.

What a day!!! The rain stopped finally…sunny skies and dry roads prevailed.
Unfortunately we lost two of our vehicles to crashes. #888 riven by Ron Bartleet and co-piloted by Duncan Fregren, ran off the road into Boat Harbour, striking the Guard rail front and rear of car. Occupants stirred and shaken but OK. Then car # 701 Driven by Ruth and co-piloted by Andrew Thorogood missed a turn at a blind turn and ran into a stone wall taking out the front drivers side suspension and damaging some body work. The remaing four cars did well today no results until tomorrow though. All for now….John Hume
